COLONEL JOHN H. PEARSON
Colonel John H. Pearson is the Vice Commander of
the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center at Kirtland AFB,
NM. The colonel serves as the senior advisor to the commander and is
the Center's corporate business operations manager.
Colonel Pearson graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in
1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering, was
commissioned as a second lieutenant and attended pilot training at
Laughlin AFB, Texas. He was then assigned to the 511th Tactical Fighter
Squadron at RAF Bentwaters and then RAF Alconbury, England where he
flew the A-10 as an instructor and assistant flight commander. This was
followed by assignment as an Air Liaison Officer for the 1st Brigade,
8th Infantry Division at Mainz, Germany with transition to the F-16.
While flying the F-16, Colonel Pearson was assigned to Moody AFB, Ga.,
and Osan AB, Republic of Korea while holding positions as an
instructor, flight examiner, flight commander, and Chief of Wing
Standardization and Evaluation. He was then assigned to Cannon AFB,
N.M., where he was the 524th Fighter Squadron Operations Officer, and
523rd Fighter Squadron Commander. Colonel Pearson has also served on
the Headquarters Air Combat Command Staff at Langley AFB, Va., as the
F-16 and F/A-22 Program Element Monitor and Chief of F/A-22 Weapons and
Avionics integration. Prior to his assignment to AFOTEC, Colonel
Pearson was assigned to the Joint Staff (J-3) Joint Operations Division
where he held positions as Section Chief, Iraq Operations; Division
Chief, Southern Command; and Secretary of Defense Orders Book briefer.
Colonel Pearson has deployed to the Middle East in support of
Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Southern Watch and has
flown missions in support of Operation Noble Eagle in the United
States. Colonel Pearson is a command pilot with more than 3,200 hours.
